Meet The Team

Matthew Bruno

Member Experience Coordinator

Matt has over 10 years of experience supporting individuals in the substance use and mental health field. He is a State Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and a Qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher through Brown University’s School of Professional Studies. His work emphasizes self-discovery through mindfulness, meditation, and human connection. At The Living Room, Matt focuses on creating spaces where individuals feel safe enough to explore their experiences, gain insight, and develop self-compassion. He integrates awareness as an ongoing practice and emphasizes the value of consistent, grounded presence in recovery-oriented care.

Into his mid-30s, Matt experienced high levels of anxiety, bouts of depression, and struggled with excessive alcohol and drug use—personal experiences that now deeply inform his professional perspective in supporting others. His life started to shift when he began practicing mindfulness, self-compassion and meditation practices regularly. This work helped him develop a newfound awareness of his thoughts, emotions, and the intelligence of the body. Today, these techniques complement Matt’s work at The Living Room, where he brings true understanding, dedication to wellness in all forms, and a subtly comforting energy that, together, invite others to embrace that the kind of transformation he’s witnessed in himself is just as possible for themselves.
